Tour Info

The rooftop garden of the Government Complex Sejong is the world's largest Rooftop garden with total length of about 3.6km and area of 79,194㎡, which is the size of 11 soccer fields combined. It connects 15 government buildings.
Following the vision of the master plan of the administrative city, the basis of architecture of the Government Complex Sejong -- which is “Flat City, Link City, Zero City” -- the Rooftop garden has a horizontal structure with an open view. It was designed based on the concept of Sunseongnori, a traditional game played during the Joseon dynasty where you go around the fortress and look inside and outside of wall.
The garden is composed of 187 different plant species and 1.08 million plants in all. There are herb garden, medicinal gardens, fruit trees and berry gardens, and vine tunnels. Seasonal tree species showcase different scenery throughout all four seasons.
Other features are the Guinness Marker celebrating the record-breaking achievement, an observatory overlooking the Sejong Lake Park and the Presidential Archives, and a giant Korean flag made of mugunghwa hibiscus for visitors to enjoy various landscapes.
By filling the rooftop with as deep as 1㎡ of soil to create a landscape area, energy loss is minimized; thus saving 1.4 billion won in an annual cooling and heating energy cost.
