The Jeju Regional Government Complex is the second government building built in accordance with the “Establishment Project of Regional Joint Government Offices.” In conjunction with the Citizen Welfare Town Development Plan pursued around the same time, the local government and heads of central administrative agencies in the Jeju region actively supported the project, and it was initiated earlier than originally scheduled. Construction was commenced in December 2004 on the site of the Citizen Welfare Town in Donam-dong and was completed in December 2006. The Jeju Regional Government Complex is well-equipped with convenient amenities and welfare facilities for visitors to improve the administrative services of local residents, at the same time reducing manpower and budget through the integrated management of decentralized government offices. The central government is keen to contribute to balanced regional development and improvement of administrative efficiency by improving the working environment for local public officials.
